Post biscuits didnt rise ....
i used this recipe .... http://www.crisco.com/Recipes/Details.aspx?recipeID=2476&loc=5

i think i rolled the dough a little thin ... it was maybe a half inch thick ...
would that keep them from rising?
they tasted good .. but were really thin .. any help ?

To be honest, I've never made biscuits before.

The one thing I have read about them not rising is when you cut them out to not twist the biscuit cutter. Go straight down on the dough. Otherwise they won't rise...........I don't really know. Just what I've read.

i am starting to think i did not knead the dough enough ...

I really wish I could help....I have no idea if that would effect it.

actually from what I have always read about biscuits is to be sure you DON'T knead it too much and to just barely mix it till it comes together.
Mama is the biscuit expert we need! :)

Only knead just till it holds together. I pat it out and cut into rectangles so I don't have to reform and cut again which leads to over working and flat biscuits.

It could be old baking powder. You are supposed to replace it at least once per year. Some sources even say every 6 months (America's Test Kitchen, Alton Brown).

Test it by stirring a spoonful into a small glass of water. It should foam up.

Hot or cold water (I read somewhere that BP is heat activated)? I want to test mine. Would keeping it in the freezer keep it fresh longer? I don't use BP as often as I used to. TIA
