 My new Pressure Cooker/Canner
Hi All ! Recently purchased a new pressure cooker from Amazon. My pressure cooker was only 8 L and I needed something much bigger to primarily cook stock in. Then along came the Presto 23 Quart pressure cooker/canner. I now only need to cook the stock for 15 to 20 minutes at pressure ( 15PSI ) and its done !. It used to take 3 to 4 hours the conventional way in my stock pot. I am now producing more than 3 gallons of stock at a time. I am still experimenting to see if I can increase the output but I have to be careful with the liquid levels and avoid too much foaming. The flavor is also more intense , so a big winner all round !!. This thing is so big it will cook 4-5 Kilo cuts of meat. And the pressure gauge is a big advantage as well. Being a steam engine nut it was a must have !

Holy Moly, Peter!!!!!!!!! That's one big pressure cooker! Glad to hear it's working out for you. Sounds like a real work horse... Does that mean it's party time??

 Re: My new Pressure Cooker/Canner
As you wish Sherm... http://www.gopresto.com/products/produc ... e=categoryAs an aside, I bought this particular brand because it was American and I do have a high regard for American tools, kitchen equipment etc (built to last !) However I noted on the Amazon track details that it was being sent out of Honk Kong. Yet more manufacturing going off shore, much the same as Australia......

I had one 35 years ago. It was the old style Presto Pressure Canner. I gave it to my mom, and now I regret doing that because I could have kept it for canning and pressure cooking huge amounts of stuff!! I might get another one. Was it expensive? Mine looked like THESE two units; Attachment:

 Re: My new Pressure Cooker/Canner
Hi Sherm I paid around US$85 which I thought was a bargain for such a large pressure cooker. Ironically the shipping was around US$100 (Fast Post) but it was still a bargain !
