Post Do you refrigerate sesame oil?
I've got a new bottle and looked all over on it and it doesn't say to refrigerate after opening. I would think you would have to for some reason (sesame seeds). I'm sure I have in the past. Is it necessary do you think?

On another note, I happened to look at my bottle of Soy sauce and it says to refrigerate after opening. I never have. lol Go figure....

Well, you learn something new everyday. I guess I never refrigerated the soy because I go through it so fast...

Thanks guys!

I agree with Suzi and Rob. I don't refrigerate sesame seeds either.

I refrigerate or freeze all kinds of seeds because they can go rancid........sesame, caraway, fennel, sunflower, etc. That's why I wondered about the sesame oil.

Oil, yes, soy, no.

Sesame oil, just like sesame seeds, can both spoil and start to smell rancid if you don't keep them under refrigeration.

I freeze the sesame seeds. There, they'll last indefinitely. Sesame oil is rather expensive to me, and I only use it for Asian cooking. If it sits out too long, it most certainly WILL spoil!

Soy sauce is very high in sodium, so I think that it can sit out forever and won't spoil. I've never refrigerated it, and it has lasted indefinitely.

I'm with Sherm on this one. However I keep sesame seeds at room temp and the oil in the fridge.
