Post Re: Speaking of salads.......
I gave up lettuce for my New Years' Resolution. j/k. I like ths salad bar at Ralph's market. Some of the ingredients change from time to time. From memory (& I'm sure I'm leaving lots of ingredients out):

Mixed Greens
Spinach
mushrooms
black olives
artichoke hearts
red onions
hearts of palm
crab meat & tuna
cherry tomatoes
cheese - they have a variety of mixed chunks (jack, cheddar, mozzarella)
Feta
Grated Parmesan
green beans
beets
peas & corn
croutons
garbanzo beans

To be continued.

Haha........I know the list goes on. Until you see someone mention something you forget about it.

They did away with the salad bar at our Giant Eagle. All they have now is an olive bar. There's also antipasti and marinated peppers/mozz. cheese balls. The different kinds of olives are pretty good though.

I'm trying to picture their salad bar in my head. There are lots of other ingredients they have, but those are the things I gravitate toward the most. It does get pricey at about $7 per pound.

I like avocado, but it would go off if they left it out. (Unfortunately their dressing does. Wound up w/ a stomach ache once.)

They have tri-color rotini, as well. Would like cottage cheese, but that would probably go off too.

The other side of the bar has pasta salads & such. They have soup, but haven't tried theirs yet.

I could probably eat from their salad bar a few times a week, & never have the same dish. Anyhew... those are a few I like.

Heehee ... when I was a kid, I would ask the waiters at a restaurant to just bring be a bowl of lettuce with some cheese and ranch dressing. I dont like tomatoes (unless it is in a sauce), dont like olives, onions (unless they are in something cooked), etc ...

It has to be iceburg, any other kind taste like I am eating leaves off a tree. YUCK! I love lots of cucumbers, bacon bits and croutons in my salad.
