 Cook This! Week 1... Potatoes!
Potatoes are the ingredient for our first week! Show us your spuds; baked, fried, grilled, mashed, skins, pancakes... lots of possibilities here. Cook 'em, snap a pic, tell us what you did.

I'm glad potatoes was chosen for the week, as I have quite a few of the gold ones left.

Hey I made something for it and didn't even realize it! Malt Vinegar Salted French Fries! I cut up 3 medium Idaho potatoes Fried them in about two inches of Canola oil. Fried them till lightly golden. Drained them on paper towels. Quickly seasoned them with J&D's Malt Salt before the oil cools on them. Then Chow down!!! Mmmmmmm Salty Goodness!!

Re: Cook This! Week 1... Potatoes!
Alright Dee... start us off So you're a single fryer huh? Lately I've been double dipping my fries. It seems to get them crispier. And my first entry is.... Mashed Potatoes! Probably the most common food shown in a plate of "comfort food". With gravy of course I like my mashed potatoes simple. I most often make them by adding just a little butter and some milk, then hand mashing until there are no lumps. I prefer the texture of hand mashed over using a mixer, but that's me. So peel some spuds and immerse in cold water. That way they will keep until you need them later in the day. Attachment:

Set the pot on a burner and bring to a boil for ten minutes or so, until they are tender. Drain the water out and leave the potatoes sitting in the same pot to evaporate any leftover water. Add your other ingredients and mash. Attachment:

Nice taters you guys!! The fries look nice and crispy and I've got to try that Malt Salt. lol Fred, that's exactly the way I make my mashed. No mixer for me either.
